Hi, I'm Sophie — an 18-year-old elite amateur golfer from Staffordshire, chasing a career on the pro tour.
The journey so far
I picked up golf at 14 with a handicap of 32. Four years on, I'm playing off 4.8 and competing full-time against adult elite amateurs. This year alone I've finished 5th in the Ping Scratch Trophy, 4th at the Staffordshire County Championships, and played my first multi-day national event at the Welsh Women's Open. I'm also part of the Staffordshire County Scratch Team (Women's) — unbeaten since July 2025.
What's next
My goal for 2027 is to compete at a high amateur level throughout the season, with a view to starting to enter professional events as I build toward turning pro. That means more elite amateur tournaments, more travel, and equipment that keeps pace with how fast I'm improving.
